NMN is a NAD+ precursor. NAD+ or nicotinamide adenine dinucleotide, is a critical coenzyme found in every cell in the body that has been shown to enhance energy metabolism, improve mitochondrial metabolism and prevent age-linked changes in gene expression. Meaning it helps to initiate or assist in hundreds of metabolic reactions. Declining NAD+ levels are seen alongside a loss in the function of our cells, a natural function of aging. NMN is a direct NAD+ precursor, unlike the popular molecule Nicotinamide Riboside (NR) which must first be converted into NMN.
